Every year thousands of women are handed a diagnosis of breast cancer. This can be a devastating diagnosis for so many reasons. For one thing you’re being given a diagnosis of cancer, which can be extremely frightening to have to deal with. And then you’re also being told that the cancer is located in one area where a woman feels her femininity most: the breasts. Many women who have a diagnosis of breast cancer wind up having a mastectomy, which essentially means having the breast tissue removed. Of those women, a majority of them wind up having some form of breast surgery done in order to make themselves look, and feel, better.

Reconstruction

Women who have their breasts removed in order to cut out the cancer may go through a period of depression simply because they have no chest tissue left. A woman often feels defined by her chest. It is one of the visible things that makes women different from men, and when it is gone, it can make a woman who is already in a fragile state feel worse about herself and her body. Fortunately having a full reconstruction is possible. A woman who is having her breast tissue removed knowingly will often request that a plastic surgeon be on hand during the operation. This is because the surgeon can then help to suture the wounds closed in such as way as to make it easier to do the reconstruction on the chest area later.

Women who do not have a cosmetic surgeon there during the procedure may still be able to get their chest enlarged at a later date, but will likely have to deal with more scars. If it is possible, it is always good to get a cosmetic surgeon in on the operation in order to close the wound.

Other Options

Aside from having a reconstruction done, there are other types of procedures that can be done to help a breast cancer sufferer that do not equate with breast enlargement. Some of these methods involve simply making the scars less visible, so that the woman feels freer to wear lower shirts. Others involve moving, or even creating, a nipple so that she feels much more normal. Regardless of whether you decide to have the chest enlarged after your operation or to have the area made to look better, most plastic surgeons will have a way to help you to feel better about your mastectomy.

Perhaps no form of surgery in the United States today is more popular or more controversial than breast augmentation surgery. Without a doubt, this cosmetic procedure is far more safe today than it was twenty years ago, thanks to a major change in the kind of implants that are used, but just like with any kind of surgical procedure, there are risks involved that a person must be fully aware of before they can make an educated decision. Most plastic surgeons are adequately open and honest with their patients about what they can expect, but just in case you aren’t fully aware, let’s take a look at a handful of myths about breast augmentation surgery.

One of the most pervasive myths about breast enhancement surgery is the idea that it is fairly painless. This is completely untrue. The point that many people focus on is the healing time from this type of surgery, which is fairly quick compared to other kinds of surgery, but that healing time is definitely not painless. Of course, you will be receiving a prescription for pain medication, so it isn’t like you will have to suffer through the pain without help, but it is important for everyone to understand that there is a painful recovery process.

One of the other major myths surrounding breast enlargement surgery is the idea that your surgery will be a one time event. In most cases, implants will need to be either replaced, refilled or removed at some point in the future. This means that your one surgery is actually going to be several surgeries spread out over a few years time. Each surgery will require a period of healing afterwards and although the pain associated with these additional procedures won’t be as bad as what you experienced the first time, they still aren’t a lot of fun.

On the plus side, the materials that are often used these days inside implants are significantly less harmful then they used to be. There are very few doctors anywhere in North America that still rely on silicone implants and instead they use saline, which can be absorbed into the body with little to no effect should an implant break. These saline implants still need regular care and your surgeon will talk to you about how to look after your implants, but they are far less hazardous to your health than silicone or other materials.

As you can see, the world of breast augmentation is filled with misunderstandings and miscommunications. For millions of women, surgery has given them a bust they can be proud of, but for others who didn’t know about the real risks going in, they found the experience to be less than satisfactory. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into before you start.

If you are the mother of a young girl and you are considering breast augmentation surgery, it is important that you open the lines of communication so that she, and any young children you have, understand why you are doing what you are doing and what the process of recovery is. There is such an emphasis in our society on breasts and the power they hold, it is important for young girls to have a positive body image and to understand that their mother is getting this work done for the right reasons. It is also important that they understand the risks associated with surgery and that mom is going to need some recovery time. The last thing you want is for your child to see you the morning after coming home from the hospital with no idea what has gone on.

Women get breast augmentation surgery for many different reasons and it is important to communicate yours to your kids. Mom is going to look quite different in a few days and it is good that your children understand the procedure and why it is being done. Even if your reasons are that you feel that larger breasts will help your career, it is important to be honest. It is also important to stress the fact that not everyone has to have larger breasts to be happy or to be valued by men. The worst thing any mother can do to their daughter is to have them thinking that a woman with small breasts is worthless or not pretty. The more you explain what is going on with your child and why you made the decision you did, the healthier their perspective will be and the less likely they will be to try to impose those values on themselves.

A fun way in which you can help to teach your children about breast enhancement surgery is to involve them in helping you recover. Make sure they are properly briefed on what to expect when you come home from the hospital and then assign each one of your children a job so that they can help out. If you feel they are old enough and can handle the details, talk to them about what happened, where your scar is and how you are going to look later on. If you can use this as a learning experience instead of something to be embarrassed about, everyone will be better off in the end.

If you need more information on what to say to your children about your breast enlargement surgery, talk to your doctor. They are often highly experienced when it comes to talking to children about sensitive topics.

If you are one of the millions of women out there considering cosmetic surgery, there are many different factors you need to take into account before making your decision. First, you need to decide if you really need breast augmentation surgery in the first place. Once you are sure you want to get work done, you also need to consider any non surgical alternatives that may work just as well. Finally, you need to look at the cost of surgery. Is this a procedure you really want to subject your body to? Let’s take a look at some of the costs associated with breast enhancement surgery.

Financial

Of course, when most people talk about the cost of breast enlargement surgery, they are talking about the financial impact, but the real cost of surgery is actually two fold, and many people don’t consider the secondary financial impact in their decision. It is no secret that when it comes to surgery, you get what you pay for. The best cosmetic surgeons practicing in Hollywood charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for every procedure they do, and since that prices most of us out of the market, we are left with doctors who perform surgery at discount prices. So not only are we getting discount quality surgery, we also take a financial hit when it comes to the time we miss from work due to our surgery. Add to that the fact that discount surgery often leads to longer healing times and the increased likelihood of a botched surgery, and the financial cost from this decision has spiralled out of control. Before you make the decision to get breast augmentation surgery, it is very important that you adequately consider the true financial cost of going under the knife.

Mental

A surprising number of people out there have never had surgery of any kind and are unfamiliar with the kind of pain that comes with healing from surgery. Although the healing time for this kind of surgery isn’t that bad compared to other types of surgery, it can still be an excruciating experience. If you happen to have your surgery botched or if there are any kinds of complications due to an infection or other similar problems, the pain and suffering can be exponentially worse. Women can also suffer serious mental anguish from a botched surgery and the resulting disfigurement. What started out as a procedure to increase one’s self confidence can turn into a living nightmare that destroys your self image forever. It’s a risk that has to be carefully considered before any decisions can be made.

Thankfully, medical science and herbal medicine have advanced to the point where non surgical methods of breast enhancement are now possible, so you have plenty of options to evaluate. Before you agree to go under the knife, it is very important that you know what you are getting yourself into.

Perhaps no form of surgery in the United States today is more controversial than breast augmentation surgery. There are fierce proponents and opponents of surgery that will argue with you for hours on end about their point of view and one area that is often argued about the most is scars. The problem with breast enhancement scars is that the visibility of your scar is directly related to how talented your surgeon is. The better your doctor, the less visible your scar will be.

This fact has lead to many women paying for a surgeon they can’t really afford because they are afraid to go to less expensive doctors fearing that their scar will be more visible. Instead of jumping to this costly conclusion, you can ask to see some of your doctor’s prior work. Almost all surgeons in this field keep a scrap book with before and after pictures of the women they have worked on. Be careful that the pictures you are looking at haven’t been digitally enhanced or “photoshopped” so that the scars are no longer visible. If your surgeon is good, there will only be a tiny, inch long scar underneath the breast that will be almost impossible to see under normal circumstances.

Some women have even taken to wearing a dot of makeup over their scar if they feel that it is particularly visible. If you are getting surgery because your career involves being topless, there are also a host of industry secrets used by models and dancers to cover up any imperfections that can be seen. Of course, if your surgery doesn’t go the way it is supposed to, there can be extra scarring, but thankfully there are far more surgeries that go well than not.

One option that many people are considering when it comes to breast enlargement is non surgical options. The idea that these options aren’t legitimate has been roundly disproven, and although the results aren’t instant like they are with surgery, they are all natural and painless. Popular non surgical breast enlargement options include pills, creams and gums. Many of the top brands contain similar ingredients that have been shown to stimulate new growth in the breast area over a period of weeks and months. Since every woman reacts to these non surgical options differently, it is impossible to guarantee results, but many women are more than willing to take that chance if it means remaining scar free.

Millions of women from coast to coast are currently living with breast augmentation surgery scars and most of them don’t give it a second thought. It really does depend on the surgeon you choose and the type of implants you choose, as well. Make sure you are completely confident with your decision before you agree to go under the knife.

If there is one medical procedure that follows the old time phrase, “You get what you pay for,” it is surgery. We have all seen and heard about botched cosmetic procedures and it always seems that an inordinate amount of them come from surgeons that are a bit on the cheap side, so it makes sense that more and more women seem to be putting themselves in paralyzing debt so they can afford the best surgeon out there. There are ways in which you can help to pay for breast augmentation surgery, however. Let’s look at some of the most popular payment options.

Although it may sound laughable at first, many professionals who get breast enhancement surgery for their jobs can often write off the cost on their tax returns. Before you grab the phone and contact the best surgeon in the state, it may be a good idea to talk to a tax professional or even call the IRS personally and find out what kind of job you must have for this write off to be granted. You wouldn’t want to find out after it is too late that you gift from Uncle Sam isn’t coming.

Often times, hospitals and even private doctors offices offer financing for doctors bills and cosmetic procedures. The only problem with this sort of thing is that the interest rates are often quite high so it is in your best interest to pay off the balance as quickly as possible. Make sure you read all of the fine print included in your financing deal so that there aren’t any nasty surprises later on. The same goes for putting your procedure on your credit card. You don’t want to be left switching cards around and destroying your credit just for a quality augmentation.

If you are confident that your breast enlargement procedure will be tax deductable, you may want to talk to a bank directly since your surgery would be considered a business expense. Banks offer small business loans all of the time, so it isn’t much of a stretch to think a bank would give you a loan for a work related cosmetic procedure. Be prepared to show exactly how cosmetic surgery will enhance your earning potential. The more iron clad proof you can present to your loan officer, the better your chances will be of getting the loan you need.

As you can see, there are many different payment options available to anyone who wishes to get cosmetic surgery. There are also non surgical methods available that cost a fraction of the price and leave no scars. No matter which method you choose, make sure you know all of the facts before you make your decision.

Thanks to the wonders of modern science, women today have many different choices when it comes to breast augmentation. There is the surgery that most people are familiar with and there are also supplements and other non surgical options available, as well. All of these options result in one thing: a larger bust and more self confidence. If you are wavering on your decision to enhance your bust, here are a few rock solid reasons why you may want to consider breast enhancement.

Do it for you – The perception that has dogged breast augmentation for as long as procedures have been available is the idea that women only enhance their bust size to please men. While there may be a good number of women who do exactly this, the overwhelming numbers of women get breast augmentation surgery because they want it. Having larger breasts can help your self confidence in every facet of your life. Women ted to feel more confident in the work place if they have larger breasts and increased confidence can help in your personal life, as well. There isn’t a woman in the world that hasn’t wondered what their life would be like with larger breasts, and now you don’t have to wonder any more.

Do it for him – A growing number of women are looking into breast augmentation surgery or organic alternatives as a gift to the person they love. There is no denying that our society has a love affair with the female chest and what better way to give your lover more to love than with breast augmentation. When you consider the fact that the price for breast augmentation is a fraction of what it used to be, a present like this isn’t nearly the financial drain it used to be.

Do it for fun – You know the old saying that blondes have more fun, well it is safe to say that women with larger breasts have more fun, as well. Whether it is right or wrong, women with a larger bust tend to get more attention from others and tend to be treated differently, many would say better, than other women. If you have been a have not for your whole life, you don’t have to be any longer. Breast enlargement options are affordable and available to anyone who wishes to have them, and you don’t have to be a millionaire to pay for them, either.

As you can see, there are dozens of reasons to consider breast augmentation this year. As more non surgical procedures become more popular and even more affordable as they are now, an increasing number of women from coast to coast are sure to begin considering breast augmentation. Will you be one of them?

If you are one of the millions of women out there that are considering breast augmentation surgery, the first person you should talk to is a doctor and then a cosmetic surgeon. It is very important to take the time to talk to a doctor first since they can tell you about all of the benefits and drawbacks of cosmetic surgery without there being a conflict of interest that you may find from a cosmetic surgeon. It is very important that you get a clear picture of what to expect when it comes to breast enhancement surgery, so here are a few important questions you should ask before you go under the knife.

It is a good idea for you to get a clear idea of how the entire surgical procedure is going to go before you speak to a cosmetic surgeon. Since your surgeon has a vested interest in you undergoing cosmetic surgery, it is smart to talk to a doctor that doesn’t. On average, you can expect a full month of recovery from your surgery and although you will be given pain killers to help with the discomfort that comes with surgery, it is still regarded as an excruciating process. If you fall victim to an infection, the healing process can take longer.

Next, you should also talk to your doctor about which surgeons in your area are trustworthy and which ones are to be avoided. In any large city, there are dozens of surgeons offering breast augmentation surgery and it is up to you to find the best one for a price you can afford. Generally speaking, the more you are willing to pay, the better your surgery will go, but that doesn’t mean that expensive surgeons don’t make mistakes.

Finally, you should ask your doctor what kind of impact on your health you can expect from breast enlargement surgery. Many women only experience the initial post-surgery pain and then any additional discomfort that comes with additional procedures to replenish or remove the implants you have received. After all, if this procedure was really unsafe, it wouldn’t be allowed to be done in today’s society, but even saline implants have been known to cause health problems in some patients. Make sure you have done your research before you agree to meet with a plastic surgeon. You also want to make sure that you repeat all of these questions to your plastic surgeon to see if the answers match.

For many women, having their breasts done was the smartest decision of their lives. It was a procedure that gave them self confidence and made them happier, but for some, it was a decision made on too little information. Make sure you don’t fall into that category.

It is a nightmare we all have, regardless of what kind of surgery we are going for: our doctor proves to be incompetent and we end up in worse shape coming out of our surgery than we were going in. This concern is often amplified when we have cosmetic surgery done since we aren’t going in for a procedure we actually need, but a procedure that we want because we feel that it is going to enhance our appearance. There is no way to tell if we have a bad doctor or not, but there are some things you can keep in mind when picking out the right doctor for you.

First, if you have decided to get breast augmentation surgery, you can use the power of the Internet to check up on the surgeon you have chosen. Unless you happen to be the first patient your surgeon has ever had, there is probably a web page or three dedicated to your doctor somewhere on the Internet. There are many different pages that let former patients “rate” their doctor’s performance, and if a plastic surgeon you have picked has the reputation for being a butcher, chances are, someone has made a webpage or left a comment somewhere saying so.

If you really want to test the breast enhancement credentials of your doctor, ask to speak to former patients that he has had so you can see how happy they are with their new breasts. You may not be able to contact just any of his or her former patients since it would likely be a violation of patient-doctor confidentiality, but if former patients have volunteered, you may be able to get some information you need to make the right decision for you.

Many doctors who perform breast augmentation surgery keep journals and books featuring before and after pictures of their work. Assuming that these pictures haven’t been tampered with to hide any scarring or any other problems, they can be a fairly good gauge of the quality of the surgery that your doctor is capable of. Make sure you ask a lot of questions while looking at these photos. The smoothness of the answers are a good way to tell if your doctor is being honest with you or trying to con you.

Finally, if you are looking for a good breast enlargement doctor, you can contact the local medical association to see which doctor they recommend. If a doctor has had complaints against them or if they have been sued, there is little chance that an impartial group like that would recommend him or her. There also may be independent organizations in your city or state that can tell you which doctors have the best reputations.

For most people, the stories on the news about post infection problems in today’s hospitals sound like something from a bad science fiction movie. A person can go from being perfectly fine after a routine surgery, or even a cosmetic procedure, and suddenly find themselves fighting for their life due to a bad infection like staph or a similar bacteria. Since hospitals use such strong cleaners and so many different antibiotics, more and more bugs are becoming resistant to conventional treatments. While there is no greater or lesser chance that you could contract a post surgery infection after your breast augmentation surgery, there are a few things you can do to lower the chances of any problems occurring.

First, you want to make sure that you follow the instructions laid out by your doctor in full for your recovery. Many times, infections come from patients who don’t keep their prone areas as clean as they should. Often times, caring for wounds is a long and trying process, but if you want to ward off any chance of a problem down the road, you need to take all of the steps your doctor asked you to.

Keep track of the amount of pain you are in. If you notice a few days after you have come home from the hospital that the amount of pain you are in is getting worse, don’t wait, contact your doctor right away and let them know. Pain from surgery should almost always get progressively better, and if it isn’t, your doctor will tell you what to expect long before you leave the hospital. No one can tell what is going on with your body better than you, so if you are getting breast augmentation surgery, it is up to you to gauge the level of pain you are feeling.

If you have been given a bottle of antibiotics, it is extremely important that you take all of the pills you were given, even if that means taking pills for a week after the pain associated with your surgery is gone. Bugs can become resilient to antibiotic medication when people stop taking their prescription half way through. This allows the bugs to reorganize and fight back. If you are getting breast enhancement surgery, always make sure you finish off all of the pills you were given.

Finally, if you are recovering from breast enlargement surgery, keep an eye on your temperature. Along with an increase in pain, you will also get a fever if you have an infection due to your surgery. Even if you are feeling fine, it is a good idea to keep an eye on your temperature in the days following any kind of surgical procedure.
