Surgery

It is a nightmare we all have, regardless of what kind of surgery we are going for: our doctor proves to be incompetent and we end up in worse shape coming out of our surgery than we were going in. This concern is often amplified when we have cosmetic surgery done since we aren’t going in for a procedure we actually need, but a procedure that we want because we feel that it is going to enhance our appearance. There is no way to tell if we have a bad doctor or not, but there are some things you can keep in mind when picking out the right doctor for you.

First, if you have decided to get breast augmentation surgery, you can use the power of the Internet to check up on the surgeon you have chosen. Unless you happen to be the first patient your surgeon has ever had, there is probably a web page or three dedicated to your doctor somewhere on the Internet. There are many different pages that let former patients “rate” their doctor’s performance, and if a plastic surgeon you have picked has the reputation for being a butcher, chances are, someone has made a webpage or left a comment somewhere saying so.

If you really want to test the breast enhancement credentials of your doctor, ask to speak to former patients that he has had so you can see how happy they are with their new breasts. You may not be able to contact just any of his or her former patients since it would likely be a violation of patient-doctor confidentiality, but if former patients have volunteered, you may be able to get some information you need to make the right decision for you.

Many doctors who perform breast augmentation surgery keep journals and books featuring before and after pictures of their work. Assuming that these pictures haven’t been tampered with to hide any scarring or any other problems, they can be a fairly good gauge of the quality of the surgery that your doctor is capable of. Make sure you ask a lot of questions while looking at these photos. The smoothness of the answers are a good way to tell if your doctor is being honest with you or trying to con you.

Finally, if you are looking for a good breast enlargement doctor, you can contact the local medical association to see which doctor they recommend. If a doctor has had complaints against them or if they have been sued, there is little chance that an impartial group like that would recommend him or her. There also may be independent organizations in your city or state that can tell you which doctors have the best reputations.
